A true story of a family and town's effort to save a beloved and heroic dog named Semper Fi. The father, a Captain in the US Marines and his homemaker wife, contend with the "not so earth shattering" problems of their twin, fifteen year old daughter and son as well as the antics of their precocious six year old daughter. Their lives tumble along, as most families do, until they must face the grave diagnosis of their faithfully and very loved Golden Retriever, Semper Fi. The family cannot afford the expensive surgery the dog needs. The children jump into action with a plan, spear headed by the fifteen year old daughter. They plan a community yard sale, donating all of their most prized possessions. The family's grumpy neighbor plays an unlikely and unexpected part in the ultimate success of the fund raising. Before Semper goes in for his surgery, he displays a heroic act that almost ends his life. The story unfolds during the holiday season.

When I was a kid I always used to like to read the picture books, then they made them into a TV series on CITV. This was actually quite a good book based cartoon. Wally is a guy in a red and white fleece with a dog dressed the same. Basically every episode, when he felts like it (obviously all the time) he would get his magic walking stick and create a vortex that would transport him to another world, e.g. stone age, spooky, under the sea, jungle, etc. Wizard Whitebeard would be around to see how he was using the walking stick or how he was in the adventure, and the villain (I can't remember his name) in the yellow and black fleece would always try to steal the walking stick. But the main part of the show (hence the title) was when the audience at home have to spot Wally in a freeze frame (because he disappears for some reason), just like in the books. Very good!

Two pals running a worm ranch in Death Valley very long for some excitement to cut the boredom of their lifestyles. Their desires are fulfilled when they witness mobsters burying a gorgeous blonde girl alive in the desert, save her, and are taken captive by a ruthless squadron of feminine revolutionaries for their difficulty. Our heroes are very first tortured and then used as sex slaves, but eventually the girl gang invites them to join their cause, and they battle the syndicate to recover a briefcase full of taken platinum. Runaway Nightmare at first follows a standard male fantasy template (kidnapped by dominant females for stud solution), but it isn't pornographic. The male leads crack jokes like adolescent versions of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby, but none of it's funny. The plot includes radioactive accidents, exploding warehouses, and club fights, but there is no action. First-and-only-time director Michael Cartel is fond of long, airless scenes in which nothing happens, giving Runaway Nightmare the bizarre waking fantasy feeling that badly built movies sometimes achieve accidentally. The dialogue is ridiculous, the situations are ludicrous, and there isn't an actor in sight. Brief, clumsily-inserted nude scenes are meant to double for characters in the narrative, nevertheless the women's bodies are different, their faces are obscured, and they're shot on videotape rather than the movie stock utilized for the rest of the picture. In spite of (and because of) these dubious Runaway, virtues Nightmare is a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience, a fascinating failure that reaches brand new levels of weirdness, and its obscure house video launch is really worth seeking out for the jaded and the curious

He was once the darling of the party, the son of two old party activists, a worker of heroic reputation, his own commitment to The Movement unquestioned. He was chosen to be destined for great things, specially educated and pushed forward to positions of responsibility in the Party. Eventually he decides, because of the ethical pressures which he feels from the obstructionism of the bureaucracy from above, he asks to return to be a simple bricklayer. He is disturbed with the way the Party deals with people, especially their lack of direct contact. He thinks workers know better than the leadership many times but that's not the way power flows. He is uncomfortable with the compromises to his idealism. He remains committed to social justice and joins his friends for the May Day rally where his comfort and confidence in his place in society cause him to defer to no man, certainly no rat faced men in overcoats with red armbands. His great pleasure in life moreover is laying brick. He finds the work satisfying and fulfilling which is why he was such an obviously superior worker in the first place.
